Helford River Residency

For 5 weeks I was located in a magical place, on the edge of the Helford River in Cornwall, surrounded by woodlands, mud and ancient trees. Walking outside every day, I watched the nature changing around me.

During the (self-initiated) residency I was making lino prints, using a star wheel etching press - identical to the one used by Whistler! I was experimenting with different ideas in line (I'm obsessed with lines!), block shapes and layering, and traces of my surroundings - the subtle and intense colours and light of the lichen (korstmos), moss and the river - made their way into the prints.
