Moment in Time: Sustained
There is no permanence in remembering. As we look back, we are continuously transformed by the novelty of the present.
In the beginning, three voices sang loudly and courageously.
Their resonance was captured on reel-to-reel tape, physically looped around a dark-lit room, sounding and slowly degrading over time.
This site-specific installation (which was a new commission for the Wild Summer of Art 2025 exhibition at Brutus, Rotterdam) now finds itself as a cassette and a live performance of voices and tape. Another attempt at sustaining a moment in time.

Moment in Time: Sustained began as a commissioned, site-specific installation for Brutus’ Wild Summer of Art 2025 - Moment in Time. In its first iteration, a singular live moment between three voices and an immersive and resonant space was recorded onto reel-to-reel tape. The tapes were composed into three loops of varying lengths and installed as a constantly evolving soundscape.
Over time, the materiality of the tape itself and time began to intervene. Corrosion, friction and dust altered the sound. The voices from the past shifted and the installation was continually recomposed by its own physical decay. It was fragile and alive. We embrace the inevitability of transformation.
The EP captures one of the final, altered states - another attempt at sustaining a moment in time. Through an intuitive and collaborative process, TiSiTi re-assembled the tape loops with new live recordings, creating a meditative, trance-inducing composition that invites listeners into a shared space of remembrance and change.
TiSiTi’s debut EP Moment in Time: Sustained explores memory, residue, and togetherness. Created in multiple temporalities, the work uses the vulnerability of the voice to note the impermanence of remembering, as we are continuously re-made by the novelty of the present.
Moment in Time: Sustained is a DIY collaboration between TiSiTi and Niek van den Driesschen at Far Out Sound Studio. Niek recorded, mixed and mastered the EP. The release will be available as a 2 x 30-minute cassette and digitally on all usual streaming platforms. It is being released in collaboration with Black Road Studios.
